For sale...
2010-03-31
The day has come when it's time for me to realise that I should sell my ponies. I haven't really had the chance to do anything with them the past... 7 years? During that time they've mostly been in my parents' field eating grass and looking beautiful. I've been to shows with them once a year the past few years. So now it's time that they move to someone who likes them as much as I do but also has the possibilty to do something with them. It feels really sad to know that they are going to move to someone else and not be mine any more. But I guess that's something you have to take into account when having horses.
Last year I showed them at the Karlstad show, where my two little stars showed how goergous they are. Amaze got as much as 98988=42p and ended up 2nd and Jinna got 98888=41p and was 3rd! I also go the prize as the best female handler of the day in my kilt. Just after the new year, Amaze got the title SUCH, Swedish In-Hand Champion. New photos can be seen on their pages.

Finally spring!

We're finally through the winter, and the grass has started growing! Not that the ponies need more food... But at least they have started loosing some of their winter coats!
During the winter, Malin has been driving both Amaze and Jinna with a small sleigh, and when I was home a couple of weeks ago Malin and Rosemarie drove Jinna with carriage and even trotted a little! Jinna has proved to be quite the pony for all sorts of activities, she's extremely well behaved and really loves working. Malin and Rosmarie have raised her well. Pajen is doing well too, I have been dressage long-reining her for a bit when I've been home and she's starting to work very well. This is also obvious when working with her cantering, since she's getting stronger and her canter is not quite as stiff after working her for a while.
I'm working in Oxford, England this summer, and because of that I will not be going to any shows during June and July. There will be a show in Karlstad again this year so we will at least try to go there.
Here comes some photos from this winter! (More news below.)

Jinna thought this was easy-peasy!

Last year was very successful for us.
In August we participated at Shetland Nord's show in Köping, and it proved to be an extremely good day!
First out was Malin and Amaze, competing in dressage long-reining (quite like English riding classes, but long-reining) which they did very well and as the youngest participant Malin was pulled 4th. After that we continued with precision long-reining (long-reining around cones, like hurry scurry but long-reining) which proved to be much harder than it looked. I did a try with Jinna, mostly to practice since Jinna is still so unexperienced, and Jinna made a really good round - if I (!) hadn't managed to put down three balls with the reins (!) we would have done a clear round. Malin and Amaze continued after us and made a nice round with one or two balls down. Finally I took over Amaze and raced around the track - with a clear round and with what proved to be the fastest time of the day! That meant I won the precision long-reining.
After that there was time to show the girls in hand. This was first time I had to show them in the same class, but since neither of them have a foal, that's how it is. Considering Amaze's enormous belly size, I was expecting Jinna to win over her - but to my surprise Amaze didn't just win over Jinna, she won the entire class! And Jinna was pulled 2nd after her! Jinna got 88888=40p - her first gold medal! Amaze got 98887=40p with the comment that she was somewhat overweight - "but who isn't?" like the judge said...
The only thing left was the championships, where Amaze had qualified for two championship competitions. In the Mare Championship she didn't stand a chance, Furunäs Menuette won and later ended up as Supreme Champion. Neither did I think she would have a chance in the Allround Championship, since the gelding she competed against had 41p from his in-hand class, but this time the judges looked firstly on the horses types combined with their qualities as working ponies, and Amaze had a 9 for type and the gelding had an 8 - which meant Amaze was awarded Allround Champion! This was our first championship! I was so happy!
After this Amaze showed us very clearly that she didn't want to do more, and luckily it was just to go home after that. Seven rosettes was the result from this day - Amaze was photographed in her winner rosettes, and if would have put all of hers on her, she wouldn't have been visible underneath them...

The second and last show we went to was almost at home, we only had 30 minutes to drive!
Considering the other ponies in the class, we were expecting to be placed last and second last, but Amaze was actually pulled second! She also got the really nice points 98888=41p! With the 41p she got the year before, this meant that Amaze has qualified for Swedish In-Hand Champion! I never thought we would make it, but after the year before I realised there would actually be a chance! For this show Amaze had lost a little weight, but was still extremely fat.
Jinna continued the way she started the season, and was 4th (last) in the class with 5x8=40p and a gold medal! I'm very satisfied!
